| Opmerkingen |
Pozoblanco is a small town in the Sierra Morena foothills of Córdoba province, and this note is a product of the fractured Republican monetary reality of 1936–39. With the peseta system collapsing at the local level and small change disappearing from circulation almost immediately after the coup, Republican municipalities, trade unions, and Popular Front committees across Loyalist Spain printed their own emergency fractional currency — often in Barcelona, where commercial printing infrastructure remained intact.
Imprenta Bassa i Pagès handled a substantial volume of this local war scrip from across Republican-held territory. The thick card stock was a practical choice: cheaper to produce in small runs, less susceptible to rapid wear under harsh wartime handling conditions than thin banknote paper.
