La Pobla de Claramunt is a small municipality in the Anoia comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of similarly sized towns, its ajuntament issued emergency fractional currency during 1937 when the Republican government's coin supply had effectively collapsed under wartime pressure. The Generalitat de Catalunya had authorized local bodies to fill the gap, producing a wave of municipal notes — many printed by Barcelona shops working under considerable material constraints.
Imprenta El Secretariat Català handled a substantial volume of this municipal emergency work. Turró catalogues this emission under #1898, placing it within a well-documented but still remarkably heterogeneous series of Catalan local issues.
