Peramola is a tiny municipality in the Alt Urgell comarca of Lleida province — population well under a thousand even today — which makes its 1937 emergency issue one of the more obscure entries in the vast catalogue of Spanish Civil War local currency. The Republic's central government had badly disrupted coin supply, and small municipalities across Catalonia filled the gap with paper fractional notes, most printed by whatever local press could accommodate the job.
Imprenta Sol in Lleida handled a substantial number of these municipal commissions across the region. Turró catalogues over 1800 such issues; that Peramola reached #1812 speaks to just how thoroughly every corner of Republican Catalonia improvised its own monetary infrastructure during the war.
