Additional information

Nulles is a village in the Alt Camp comarca of Tarragona province, with a population that barely exceeded a few hundred during the Civil War years. Like dozens of Catalan and Valencian municipalities in 1937, the Ajuntament issued its own emergency fractional coinage after the Republic's central monetary supply collapsed in the loyalist zones. These local issues — collectively called moneda local de necessitat — were technically illegal under existing currency law but were tolerated out of sheer practical necessity.

Turró catalogued over 1,700 distinct municipal issues from this period. Nulles produced some of the smallest-mintage pieces in that corpus.
