| Opmerkingen |
Menasalbas is a small municipality in the province of Toledo, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns during the Civil War, its municipal council issued emergency small-change notes when coinage effectively vanished from circulation after 1936. The Republican government formally authorized local emergency currency under a decree of 12 January 1937, which gave retroactive legitimacy to issues already in use and prompted many councils to formalize what had been improvised. These céntimos notes were strictly local tender — valid only within the issuing municipality and typically redeemable, in theory, once the crisis passed.
The Gari catalog reference being incomplete suggests this specific denomination or variant may not have been formally documented at the time of cataloging, which is not unusual for the smaller Castilian issues.
