La Floresta is a small residential district in the municipality of Les Planes d'Hostoles, and like hundreds of Catalan towns and villages, its local authority resorted to issuing small-denomination emergency paper during the summer of 1936 when the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War caused a near-total disappearance of metallic coinage from circulation.
