L'Arboç is a small municipality in the Baix Penedès comarca of Tarragona, and this note belongs to the vast ecosystem of wartime emergency fractional currency — moneda local — issued by Catalan towns during the Spanish Civil War after the Republican zone's coin supply effectively collapsed in 1936. Hundreds of municipalities printed their own low-denomination paper, and the Barnadas press in nearby El Vendrell handled a significant share of the regional output.

Turró catalogues over 1,500 distinct Catalan municipal issues from this period. The 25 céntimos denomination was among the most commonly needed for daily transactions, which means circulation wear is typical and clean examples are harder to source than the higher values.
