One of hundreds of emergency municipal issues produced across Republican-held Spain during the Civil War, when the near-total disappearance of small metallic coinage from circulation forced town councils to print their own scrip. Horcajo's 25 céntimos note was a purely local solution to a purely local problem — accepted at the shop, the mill, perhaps the cooperative, and nowhere else.
The Gari Mon reference is unassigned, which is not unusual. Many of these village-level emissions were printed in such small quantities that cataloguing has never been completed, and surviving examples surface rarely enough that condition varies wildly.
