| Obverse description | Central vignette of a worker and a peasant clasping hands above the crowned coat of arms of Catalonia, flanked by factory silhouettes in the background and a cornucopia overflowing with fruits and agricultural produce at the base. The design reflects the Republican and Catalanist iconography prevalent in Civil War-era emergency issues. Issuing authority and denomination inscriptions frame the composition. |

Granollers issued its own fractional paper currency during the Spanish Civil War because the Republican monetary system had effectively collapsed at the local level — coin hoarding and supply disruptions left municipalities across Catalonia with no practical means of making change. The result was a sprawling ecosystem of locally-produced notes, most printed by whatever commercial shop happened to be operating. Gràfiques Unificades, the printer here, was itself a product of the anarcho-syndicalist collectivization wave that swept Catalan industry in 1936, with print workers taking over private firms under CNT-FAT oversight.
Turró's catalog documents hundreds of these Catalan emergency issues; #1176 places this among the better-documented specimens from the Vallès Oriental comarca.
