One of thousands of emergency fractional notes — "moneda de necessitat" — issued by Catalan municipalities during the Civil War after the Republic's small coins effectively vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted down almost immediately after July 1936. The Generalitat could not keep pace with demand for low-denomination currency, so individual town councils filled the gap themselves, often with rudimentary printing and no central oversight.
Fruiters is a small municipality in the comarca of Pla d'Urgell. Its emission is catalogued by Turró but remains obscure even within the specialized field of Spanish Civil War local issues.
