25 Céntimos Forès

Forès is a municipality in the Conca de Barberà comarca with a population that barely reached 200 during the 1930s. That a settlement this small issued its own emergency paper money in 1937 reflects how thoroughly the Republican zone fragmented its currency supply during the Civil War — the Generalitat de Catalunya authorized thousands of local ajuntaments to print their own xiquets, and Imprenta Solé in Tarragona obliged dozens of them.

The Turró catalogue documents this as a single-denomination emission. At 25 céntimos, it would have covered the smallest daily transactions in a rural economy running almost entirely on local scrip by mid-war.
