The Consejo Municipal de Ferreira issued this 25 céntimos emergency note as part of Spain's chronic small-change shortage during the Civil War years — a crisis so severe that hundreds of local municipalities, cooperatives, and even individual businesses printed their own fractional scrip. Ferreira is a small municipality in Granada province, and its issues are among the more obscure provincial entries in the Gari catalogue.
The sole security feature is an official stamp — the municipal seal applied by hand, which varies in placement and ink saturation across surviving examples.
