| 备注 |
Fernancaballero is a small municipality in Ciudad Real province, Castile-La Mancha, and this 25 céntimos note is a product of the Republican zone's currency vacuum during the Civil War. With the Madrid government struggling to supply small change to rural communities, hundreds of Spanish municipalities — including dozens of tiny Manchegan villages — issued their own emergency fractional currency under a general authorization from 1937. These local emissions were never intended to circulate beyond their issuing township.
The thick card stock was a practical choice: paper this weight survives pocket wear better than thin banknote stock, and many municipalities used whatever printing resources were locally available. The Gari Montserrat catalogue documents well over a thousand such emissions, and Fernancaballero's series is among the more obscure.
