Dosbarrios is a small municipality in Toledo province, and like hundreds of other Spanish villages, it resorted to locally printed emergency fractional notes during the Civil War years when metallic coin effectively vanished from everyday commerce. The Consejo Municipal issues from this period were purely functional stopgaps — authorized locally, circulated locally, and rarely making it out of the issuing town.
The official stamp is the only security feature, which was typical of these micro-issues and did nothing to prevent imitation. Survivors exist largely by accident.
