Opmerkingen

One of hundreds of emergency municipal issues produced across Republican-held Spain during the Civil War, this note filled the vacuum left by hoarded coinage — small change had effectively vanished from circulation by mid-1936 as civilians and militias stripped hard currency from daily commerce. The Consejo Municipal de Cuevas del Almanzora, a small mining town in Almería province, was among the many local authorities that printed their own fractional paper simply to keep markets functioning.

The Gari Mon 581-B designation suggests a recognized variety within the series, though municipal Almería issues are notoriously difficult to authenticate given the rudimentary printing conditions under which most were produced.
