| 备注 |
Cheste is a small municipality in the Valencia region, and like hundreds of similar towns across Republican Spain, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 after the Civil War disrupted the supply of small-denomination coins. The national coinage had effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply not reaching rural communities — leaving local councils to fill the gap with cardboard.
These municipal pieces were produced under no centralized standard, which is why thickness and stock quality vary so markedly even within a single series. The Turró and Gari catalogues document dozens of Valencian variants; Cheste's emission is among the more modest in volume.
