| 备注 |
Carrión de Calatrava is a small municipality in Ciudad Real province, and this 25 céntimos note is one of hundreds of hyper-local emergency issues produced across Republican-held Spain during the Civil War. The Nationalist blockade and hoarding of metallic coin created a near-total collapse of small-denomination currency in circulation by mid-1937, forcing municipal councils — regardless of size or resources — to print their own scrip just to keep local commerce functioning.
The thick card stock was a practical choice: thinner paper stocks were in short supply and wore out too quickly for even limited local use. Gari Mon catalogues this as the only denomination recorded for this issuer.
