Cañada de la Cruz is a small municipality in Murcia, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local administrative council issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage disappeared from circulation almost entirely after 1936. The Generalísimo's Nationalist forces controlled most silver-producing regions, and hoarding stripped the remainder from urban and rural commerce alike. These consejo-issued notes were a local patch — legally dubious, practically necessary.
The Gari Mon reference is unassigned, suggesting this piece was either unknown to the cataloger at time of publication or submitted too late for inclusion. Surviving examples from villages of this size are genuinely uncommon; print runs were small and most were redeemed or simply discarded after the war ended.
