Bocairente is a small inland town in Valencia province, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency in 1937 when Republican-zone coinage essentially vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply never minted in sufficient quantity. These consell municipal issues were a patchwork solution, technically illegal under Republican central banking regulations but tolerated out of necessity.

The Turró and Gari-Monfort references place this squarely within the documented Valencian series, but survival rates for small-denomination Bocairente notes are low. The town's wartime municipal records were largely lost, so print run figures remain unknown.
