| 备注 |
Almadén, a mercury-mining town in the province of Ciudad Real, issued its own fractional notes during the Spanish Civil War as the Republican zone suffered an acute shortage of coinage. The Consejo Municipal — essentially the local governing council operating under wartime conditions — produced these small-denomination pieces to keep day-to-day commerce moving when metallic currency had effectively vanished from circulation.
The Almadén mines were among the most strategically significant in Republican-held territory, supplying mercury critical to arms manufacturing. That economic importance did not translate into printing resources: these emergency emisiones were produced locally with minimal means, and survival rates are accordingly low.
