Opmerkingen

Alcudia de Carlet — now known simply as Alginet's neighbour, officially renamed Alcúdia de Crespins — issued emergency fractional currency in 1937 as part of the broader Republican zone's response to a catastrophic coin shortage. The peseta coinage had largely vanished from circulation hoarded, melted, or simply lost to wartime disruption, forcing hundreds of Valencian municipalities to print their own substitute pieces. This 25 céntimos note is one of those local solutions: a purely practical instrument, authorized under the Republican government's tolerance of municipal emergency issues.

The Turró and Gari catalogues both document this series, though surviving examples are scarce enough that condition varies dramatically between recorded specimens.
