备注

Alcoy — the Valencian industrial town better known in numismatic circles as Alcoi — was one of hundreds of Republican municipalities forced to print their own fractional paper money after the 1936 military uprising drained metallic coinage from circulation almost overnight. The hoarding of silver and copper was near-universal, and central Republican authorities were too overwhelmed to supply adequate small change to local economies. Municipal and even trade-union issues filled the gap, producing what collectors now call billetes locales or moneda local de guerra.

Alcoy had its own particular reason to improvise: it was a significant textile manufacturing center with a dense working population needing daily small transactions. The Gari Mon catalogue remains the primary reference for these Valencian regional issues.
