Alborea is a small municipality in Albacete province, Castilla-La Mancha. This 25 céntimos note is a Civil War-era local emergency issue — one of thousands of fractional notes printed by Spanish town councils between 1936 and 1939 when coinage effectively vanished from circulation. The Republican government's monopoly on metal, combined with hoarding, stripped small towns of any means to make change for daily transactions.
The absence of a Gari catalogue number suggests either extreme rarity or a specimen not yet formally assigned — both possibilities are common with Alborea issues, which were produced for purely local use and rarely travelled far.
