Opmerkingen

Aigüesbones was a small Catalan municipality that, like hundreds of others during the Spanish Civil War, issued its own fractional paper currency after Republican authorities authorized local emergency scrip in 1936–37. The collapse of small coinage in circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent — forced even minor town councils to fill the gap themselves. These municipal emissions were legal under the decree but wildly inconsistent in quality, backing, and redemption prospects.

Printed by the Centre d'Administració Municipal in Barcelona, which handled production for numerous Catalan councils during this period, making Turró's cataloguing of these issues essential for attribution. The municipality itself is obscure enough that documented surviving examples are genuinely rare.
