Abenójar is a small municipality in Ciudad Real province, and like hundreds of similar towns across Republican-held Spain in 1937, its ayuntamiento resorted to issuing local emergency fractional currency after silver and copper coinage disappeared almost entirely from circulation in the opening year of the Civil War. The Consejo Municipal designation reflects the wartime reorganization of local government under the Popular Front.
The Gari Mon reference is unassigned, which typically means the cataloger recorded the type but could not confirm enough surviving examples to establish a firm listing — or encountered it too late for full inclusion. Thick card stock was the material of necessity at this scale; proper banknote paper was not available to village councils.
