Laroque-d'Olmes, a small textile-manufacturing commune in the Ariège department, issued emergency aluminum coinage during the acute small-change shortage that gripped France in the early 1920s. Municipal and chamber of commerce nécessités flooded the country after World War I left metal supplies disrupted and the public hoarding whatever coin it could find. Hundreds of French communes and local bodies issued their own fractional tokens during this window, most briefly and in modest quantities.
The Elie Monnier reference catalog remains the primary authority for Ariège departmental issues of this type.
