| 背面描述 | A right-facing bust portrait of Juan Pablo Duarte, founding father of the Dominican Republic, is depicted in high relief at the center of the field. The denomination and weight appear as legends flanking the portrait, with the year of issue below. The portrait is rendered in a classical engraving style consistent with commemorative coinage of the period, enclosed within a beaded border. |

The 1976 Dominican coinage was produced under Joaquín Balaguer's government, during a period when the republic was consolidating a nationalist monetary identity built around the figures of its founding fathers. Duarte — the ideological architect of Dominican independence from Haitian rule in 1844 — had been exiled by his own allies within months of that independence and died in poverty in Caracas in 1876, largely forgotten by the state he helped create. The rehabilitation of his image onto circulating coinage came decades later as successive governments reframed him as the nation's moral founder.
