These pieces are pattern issues — Pn33, Pn40, Pn46, and Pn52 — struck across four consecutive years as the Dominican Republic evaluated potential coinage reforms during a period when silver had largely disappeared from circulation worldwide. The spread of KM pattern numbers across the full span suggests iterative design or compositional trials rather than a single rejected proposal. Silver patterns of this weight were almost certainly never intended for mass circulation; by the late 1970s, the circulating 25 centavos had long since moved to copper-nickel.
