Aanvullende informatie

Nicaragua's wartime shift to brass for this denomination was a direct consequence of U.S. strategic metal controls during World War II. Silver and cupronickel alloys were redirected toward the Allied war effort, forcing numerous Latin American nations to reformulate their circulating coinage in 1943–44. The Nicaraguan issues of this period were struck at the Philadelphia Mint under contract, as the country lacked domestic minting capacity.

Brass coins from this era tend to suffer in survivors — the alloy tones unevenly and is prone to spotting. Philadelphia production records for this contract issue are not widely published.
