Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a finely detailed high-relief rendering of a jaguar (Panthera onca) in a three-quarter profile, facing right with its head turned toward the viewer, standing on a rocky ground line that extends across the lower central field. The spotted coat is rendered with exceptional naturalistic detail by engraver René Baudichon. To the lower left, a small inscription reads '28.28 gram. Ley 925', denoting the coin's weight and silver fineness. The denomination '25 BOLIVARES' is inscribed in large characters along the lower portion of the field.

Aanvullende informatie

Venezuela's 1975 silver coinage program coincided with a period of unusual fiscal confidence — oil revenues following the 1973 OPEC embargo had flooded Caracas with petrodollars, and the Banco Central briefly had both the budget and the political will to issue high-quality silver circulation strikes. This piece was part of that window, which closed quickly as economic instability returned through the late 1970s.

The jaguar was already functionally extinct across most of Venezuela's developed regions by the time this coin was struck.
