Obverse description The central field features the coat of arms of Ecuador, depicting a condor perched atop an oval shield containing Mount Chimborazo and a steamship on a river, flanked by four national flags and surmounted by a condor with outstretched wings. Surrounding the central arms, arranged in a circular pattern around the periphery, are eight reproductions of historic Ecuadorian coins from various colonial and early republican periods, rendered in fine detail. The curved legend REPÚBLICA DEL ECUADOR arcs along the upper portion of the field, while the denomination 25.000 SUCRES appears in the lower central area beneath the coat of arms.
