Obverse description Central vignette shows the Armenian Soviet state arms — a circular seal with a rising sun over Mount Ararat, hammer and sickle, and a wreath border — flanked on each side by guilloche panels bearing the denomination 25000 and decorative floral branches. Bilingual inscriptions appear in Armenian and Russian above, reading Հայաստանի Սոցիա-Լիստական Բողոքային Հանրապետություն and Социалистическая Советская Республика Армения, with the year 1922 at foot and two manuscript signatures below the central vignette.

Armenia's Soviet government issued this note in 1922 during one of the most chaotic monetary periods in the Caucasus — the region had cycled through Tsarist rubles, Transcaucasian issues, and successive Armenian republic notes within just a few years. The S681 belongs to the final phase of independent Armenian Soviet emission before Transcaucasian Federation currencies absorbed local issue authority. Denominations this high reflect the acute inflation gripping the entire former Russian empire at the time, not any particular strength of the issuing authority.

Pick classifies it under the "S" (Specialized) series, indicating semi-governmental or regional emergency issue status rather than central bank production.
