The "T" suffix in the Pick reference denotes a trial piece — this is not a circulated note but a proof or specimen produced during the development of the series. Estonia's mark-denominated issues of the early 1920s were printed domestically at a time when the young republic was still building its own production infrastructure, having only recently escaped both German occupation and the Soviet westward push during the 1918–1920 War of Independence.
The 25,000 marka denomination reflects the inflationary pressures that ultimately killed the marka altogether — it was replaced by the kroon in 1928 at a rate of 100 marka to 1 kroon.
