Aanvullende informatie

Artsakh — internationally recognized as Nagorno-Karabakh — issued this coin during a period when the unrecognized republic was building governmental institutions following the 1994 ceasefire that ended its war with Azerbaijan. Coins issued under the Artsakh name were never legal tender in any recognized monetary system; they functioned primarily as numismatic exports, with hard currency receipts helping prop up a cash-starved administration still operating under a de facto blockade.

Astghik is the Armenian goddess of water, fertility, and love — a pre-Christian deity absorbed into Armenian folk tradition whose cult was centered at Ashtishat.
