| Obverse description | Brown-toned apólice with walled city vignettes at upper left and right, flanking a pair of cherubs bearing garlands at top centre. The body carries the full letterpress text of the original 1799 issue (P#4), over which a red crowned oval overprint reading 'D. Pedro IV - 1826' in a starburst frame was applied to authorise continued circulation under the new reign. Denomination '2$400 rs' appears in the text field. |
