Reverse description Reverse of the underlying Spanish colonial 8 Reales cob, featuring the crowned Pillars of Hercules design with the PLUS VLTRA motto on scrolls between the pillars, characteristic of South American mint cob coinage. The hemispherical waves at the base of the pillars are partially discernible despite the irregular strike and rough flan edges. Remnants of the mint mark and regnal legend are visible but largely indistinct due to the nature of cob manufacture. The overall surface displays the typical uneven relief and planchet irregularities inherent to macuquina coinage of this period.
