Reverse description The reverse of the host coin is a Spanish colonial 8 Reales struck at the Mexico City Mint, displaying the quartered royal arms of Castile and León surmounted by a large crown, with the assayer initials MF flanking the crowned shield. The circular legend reads FERND·VI·D·G·HISPAN·ET·IND·REX, identifying King Fernando VI of Spain, with the denomination mark VIII visible in the field. The design is executed in the milled 'columnario' or Pillar dollar style characteristic of mid-eighteenth century Mexican coinage.
