Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Rudolph August facing right, wearing a long flowing periwig and armor adorned with a beaded gorget and oval medallion at the breast. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Baroque style typical of German princely coinage of the period. The Latin legend arcs around the periphery of the field, divided by the bust, reading RVD AVG D B E LVNEB, an abbreviation for Rudolphus Augustus Dux Brunsvicensis et Luneburgensis. A beaded inner border frames the design.
