The circumferential legend reads GEORG·L·UD·D·G·D·BR·&L·S·R·I·ELECT·1701·, identifying the issuer as Georg Ludwig, by the Grace of God Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, with the date 1701 incorporated into the legend.
