Produced at the height of the Kipper- und Wipperzeit — the currency debasement crisis that swept the Holy Roman Empire between roughly 1618 and 1623 — this piece belongs to one of the most chaotic monetary episodes in German history. Territorial mints raced to produce debased coinage, meeting the letter of face value while gutting silver content, then spending the proceeds before neighboring states caught on. Württemberg was among the more aggressive participants.
The "Kipper" designation in the name is not decorative — it is a direct admission of the coin's origin in that crisis.
