| Beschrijving keerzijde | Draped bust of Agrippina the Younger facing right, her hair arranged with two locks falling at the sides of the neck and a long plait descending at the nape, a coiffure typical of her official portraiture. The bust is set within a laurel wreath that encircles both the effigy and the surrounding legend, lending the reverse an exceptional compositional dignity befitting the empress mother. The partial legend visible in the field reads ... C IT ..., representing the remnants of the fuller titulature AGRIPPINAE AVGVSTAE. The die work reflects the refined engraving style of the Roman imperial mint during the joint-reign coinage of the early Neronian period, when Agrippina's image appeared prominently on official silver issues. |
