| Obverse description | Heavily worn obverse field with faint traces of a design rendered in a broad, flat relief characteristic of late Hellenistic Cretan bronze coinage. The central motif is largely obscured by surface corrosion and wear, though the overall composition suggests a head or bust in the Hellenistic tradition. The flan is irregular and of irregular thickness, consistent with hand-hammered provincial issues of the period. No legible inscription or legend is discernible on this face. |

Cnossus was refounded as a Roman colony — Colonia Iulia Nobilis Cnossus — around 36 BC, likely under the auspices of Mark Antony, who controlled the eastern Mediterranean during this period.
