Obverse description Central device comprising a pointed heraldic shield surmounted by a royal crown, bearing quartered arms of Chalon and Neuchâtel with an inescutcheon displaying the Prussian eagle. The crowned Prussian eagle is rendered in fine detail within the escutcheon at the center of the quartered arms. The denomination '21 BZ' appears within the legend. The surrounding Latin legend, interrupted by separating dots, identifies the sovereign as Frederick William, King of Prussia and Prince of Neuchâtel and Valangin.
