Obverse description Bearded head of Poseidon facing right, rendered in high relief with deeply modelled features characteristic of Hellenistic die engraving. The god's hair is bound with a taenia or diadem, with thick locks radiating outward in an energetic, wind-swept manner. A partial legend appears along the upper rim of the flan. The portraiture exhibits bold, naturalistic modelling typical of the civic bronze coinage of Thrace during the late Hellenistic period.

Reverse description Hermes standing facing left in a frontal pose, nude save for his chlamys and petasos, extending his right hand forward and holding a caduceus upright in his left. A small altar or omphalos appears at his feet to the left, and a small figure of a ram or goat crouches at the base, alluding to Hermes' role as divine protector of commerce and herds. The ethnic legend AINIΩΝ is disposed in the field, identifying the issuing community of Ainos in Thrace. The composition reflects the established civic iconographic tradition of this mint.
