Reverse description Central field displays the full coat of arms of the South African Republic, comprising a quartered shield with a wagon wheel, an ox, a Vierkleur flag, and an eagle, supported by two figures and surmounted by an ox-wagon. The denomination 2 1/2 SHILLINGS appears above the arms, flanked by the date 1892 between ornamental stops. The republican motto EENDRAGT MAAKT MAGT (Unity Makes Strength) is inscribed in the lower legend, completing the reverse design.
