Additional information

Pirna's F. Küttner issued this zinc notgeld piece during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in the early 1920s, when municipal authorities and private firms alike were forced to produce their own fractional currency simply to make commerce function. The 2½ Pfennig denomination is an oddity — fractional values of this kind rarely appeared in state coinage and exist almost exclusively in the emergency issues of this period.
