| Obverse description | The national arms of Guinea-Bissau occupy the central field, consisting of a stylised fan shell at the base surmounted by a crossed arrangement of fronds, above which rises a five-pointed star. A ribbon wrapping the lower portion of the arms bears the national motto in three segments: UNIDADE, LUTA, and PROGRESSO. The circumferential legend REPÚBLICA DA GUINÉ-BISSAU arcs around the upper periphery in capital Latin characters, while the date 1977 appears in the lower field flanked by two small five-pointed stars. |
