Obverse description Highly schematic and debased effigy facing right, rendered in a very elementary late antique style characteristic of provincial Visigothic bronze coinage. The bust is crudely executed, with facial features barely discernible due to the degenerate die work and heavy patination. A partial Latin legend reading CIVITA (an abbreviated reference to the issuing city) appears in the field. The flan is irregular and the overall workmanship reflects the declining die-cutting standards of the period.
