An escutcheon bearing the arms of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis I is superimposed on the eagle's breast. The eagle's wings and talons are rendered in fine detail. The surrounding peripheral legend, in Latin, identifies the Holy Roman Emperor, reading FRANCISCUS D.G.ROM.IMP.SEMP.AUG., and is set within a beaded border.
