| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a large globe in high relief at left, mirroring the obverse design, with continental outlines visible across its surface. To the left of center, the logo of the Comité Olímpico de Portugal is depicted. A sweeping curved line echoes the design motif of the obverse. Surrounding inscriptions identify the Beijing Olympic Games, the mint, the engraver, and the issuing committee. The overall design reflects a unified artistic concept linking Portugal to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Portugal issued this coin to mark the 2008 Beijing Olympics under the INCM's ongoing commemorative program, which accelerated sharply in the mid-2000s as the mint aggressively expanded its collector market. The 2½ Euro denomination is peculiar — introduced specifically for the commemorative series, it has no circulation equivalent and was never intended to function as everyday currency.
KM#790a designates the silver variant, distinguished from the base-metal 790 struck for the same issue.
